It is difficult to believe that we have already been in school for nearly a month!  I am very excited to watch my new 6th grade students increase their Spanish vocabularies and to see my older students getting  back into the swing of the school year. 

As I began my third year at St. Albert the Great, I reflected on what a wonderful opportunity that I have been given in the way I am able to teach my Spanish students.  It is rare in today's educational world that a teacher has a full three years to instill in her students a basic mastery of the Spanish language.  Many students are only able to complete one or two years of a foreign language before entering high school, and St. Albert's Spanish program can truly give my students an edge over their peers.  I not only have the opportunity to teach them all the information typically contained in a high school Spanish 1 class, but I am also able to include a wealth of cultural information.  I am also able to take the time that each group needs to truly master concepts, rather than rushing through the course content.  Parents and students, we all certainly owe our thanks to St. Albert for providing us with this excellent format for learning!

I am also very excited about our upcoming Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 17.  I look forward to meeting the parents of my new students and touching base with the parents of my 7th and 8th grade students.  I also welcome the opportunity to talk to parents about our Spanish program and to answer any questions that they may have.  Parents, I look forward to seeing you on Thursday!
